Local SEO for Brisbane businesses

When a customer in Fortitude Valley, West End or Toowong needs a plumber, a table or a physio, they search and call one of the first names they see. If you are not in that shortlist, the job goes to someone who is.

I'm Caleb. I run Local SEO Specialist. I help local businesses show up in Google Maps and local search for the work they actually want, not sit in an agency queue.

What local SEO actually means for a Brisbane business

Local SEO is the work that gets your business showing up when someone nearby searches for what you do. It's your Google Business Profile, your website, and how consistent your business details are across the web, all working together so Google trusts you enough to put you in front of the person searching.

Google weighs three things when it decides who shows up. Relevance is how well your profile and content match the search. Distance is how close you are to the person searching. Prominence is how well known and reviewed your business is. Most Brisbane business owners have never heard those three words, but they decide who gets the call and who doesn't.

This is different to regular SEO. Regular SEO chases rankings anywhere in the country. Local SEO is about winning the searches happening a few kilometres from your door, and that's where most service businesses get the bulk of their work.

Why the Brisbane market needs a different approach

Are Brisbane customers finding you, or your competitor?

Local visibility decides who gets the first call. A complete profile, useful service pages and consistent local signals help put your business in that shortlist. Most owners already have a website and a Google listing. The problem is not "having a site." The problem is losing the tap to the business that showed up first.

The first three names get the call

On a phone, people look at the map, read three names, and call. If you are not in that set, you do not get a chance to quote. Local SEO here is mostly about winning those map pack taps and the local results underneath them.

Suburb intent needs real substance

Someone looking for an electrician in New Farm does not want a generic Australia-wide page. They want a business that services New Farm. Suburb intent has to show up in the profile, the pages and the listings, not just the title tag.

No thin suburb page farms

I will not spin up a farm of thin suburb pages to try and game this. If that's what you're after, I'm not the right fit, and I'd rather tell you that now.

How Google decides who shows up in the map pack

01

Relevance

How well your Google Business Profile, categories and website content match what someone actually searched for.

02

Distance

How close your listed address or service area is to the person searching. This one is largely outside your control, and I won't pretend otherwise.

03

Prominence

Your reviews, citations, backlinks and general reputation across the web.

Each of these ties back to something I actually do, not just a definition on a page. Relevance means fixing your categories and rewriting thin service pages. Prominence means building a real review habit and cleaning up citations that list your business under the wrong details. Distance means being upfront with you about which suburbs you can realistically compete in, rather than promising all of Brisbane.

I run this exact framework on live client Google Business Profiles every week. It's not theory I read once, it's what I do day to day.

What's included in local SEO with Local SEO Specialist

Local SEO for a Brisbane business covers six things working together. None of them do much on their own, which is why a one-off "GBP setup" from a freelancer rarely moves the needle.

I don't run these as separate tasks ticked off a checklist. I rank each one against what's actually stopping your business from showing up, and start with whichever fix will move the most calls first.

Want to know what is holding your visibility back?

Send me your website and I will show you which fixes deserve attention first. No generic checklist and no hard sell.

What most businesses get wrong with local SEO

  • A Google Business Profile that was claimed once, years ago, and never touched since
  • Business name, address and phone details that don't match across directories and citations
  • Suburb or location pages that are thin, duplicated, or built purely to rank rather than to genuinely serve that suburb
  • Reviews treated as an afterthought instead of an ongoing habit
  • No real way to see whether any of it is actually working, just a monthly PDF that arrives weeks after the work was done

Most of this isn't complicated. It's just unglamorous, and it gets skipped because nobody's watching it closely enough. That gap is usually why one business sits on page two while another shows up in the map pack.

Why work with a local SEO specialist instead of a big agency

I'm not a 40-person agency. I'm one person who works with you directly.

  • Every audit, content brief, keyword strategy and backlink review is done personally by me, not junior staff or an offshore team
  • You talk to the person actually doing the work, not an account manager relaying messages from someone else
  • I keep a hard cap of 20 clients total, so your campaign isn't spread thin across a book of hundreds
  • You get a live dashboard for real-time rank tracking, instead of waiting on a monthly PDF to find out what happened

I've been doing this since 2019. If you want a big agency and a slide deck, I'm probably not your best option, and that's fine. If you want the person doing the work to actually know your business, that's what this is.

Proof I can stand behind

  • 5.0 stars from 14 reviews on Google Business Profile
  • Real feedback from businesses I've worked with, including Seaview Health Group, who said Caleb "has significantly improved our Google visibility" and they've seen "an increase in website traffic and more importantly, enquiries and bookings"

Here's what I won't do: invent lead counts, fake scarcity, publish a case study without your sign-off, or guarantee rankings. Anyone who guarantees you a Google ranking is either lying to you or doesn't understand how Google works. I'd rather tell you the truth and earn the work than tell you what you want to hear.

Brisbane suburbs and areas covered

I work with businesses that service Brisbane. I won't pretend one page owns every postcode, and I won't spin up a farm of thin suburb URLs to pad this out.

Inner city

Fortitude Valley, New Farm, Spring Hill, Bowen Hills

Southside

West End, South Brisbane, Woolloongabba, Coorparoo

Westside

Toowong, Indooroopilly, Taringa, Auchenflower

Bayside

Wynnum, Manly, Cannon Hill

If your work runs across a different set of suburbs, the profile, service areas and pages should match that, not this list. I don't invent extra suburbs to make a page look bigger than the business behind it.

How the engagement works

Five steps. You always know what happens next.

1

Free site audit

You send the website and the suburbs you care about. I look at the listing, the pages, the citations and the obvious technical issues. Honest advice, no hard sell.

2

Priorities

We pick the smallest set of changes that would actually move calls. Usually that's the Google profile, a handful of service pages, and listings that contradict each other.

3

Monthly implementation

I work the campaign myself. Profile updates, page copy, citations, links and technical fixes stay on the calendar. They don't sit in a junior's queue.

4

Reporting via live dashboard

You don't wait until month-end to find out what happened. The dashboard is there when you want it. If something needs a conversation, you get me, not a recap slide.

5

Cap of 20 clients, no outsourcing

I keep a hard cap of 20 clients. I don't outsource. Every audit, brief and report comes from me.

Who this is for (and who it isn't)

I work with tradies, clinics, professional services, childcare, hospitality and gyms across Brisbane. If you want more local calls and bookings, get in touch.

Fit if

  • You already take jobs locally and want the map pack and local results to match
  • You want to talk directly to the person doing the work
  • You can provide website and Google Business Profile access
  • You can help with current photos and a consistent review process

Not a fit if

  • You want a 40-person agency and a slide deck
  • You want guaranteed first page rankings in two weeks
  • You only want paid ads and no organic work
  • You want the work outsourced to a junior team

If you don't see your business type listed, get in touch anyway. If I think I can help, I will. If I'm not the right fit, I'll let you know.
