SEO Sunshine Coast

SEO gets your business found on Google when people across the Sunshine Coast search for what you do, in the map pack and the organic search results underneath. I'm Caleb, a local SEO specialist with 7+ years' experience. I'm based on the Gold Coast and work with businesses across South East Queensland, from Brisbane up to the Sunshine Coast.

What does SEO mean for a Sunshine Coast business?

Search engine optimisation (SEO) is the work that helps Google trust your business enough to show it when someone nearby searches for your service, and turns that search traffic into calls and enquiries. For most local businesses it comes down to three things working together: your Google Business Profile, your website, and how consistent your business details are across online directories.

Local SEO is the part that matters most for service businesses. It focuses on customers searching a few suburbs from you, which is where most of your work comes from. The same work also shapes how AI tools such as ChatGPT and Google's AI Overviews describe your business.

How many people search for local services on the Sunshine Coast?

Here's roughly how many times a month people search for some common services here. Each of those searches is a potential customer choosing between the handful of businesses that show up first.

Why the Sunshine Coast needs a different approach

The Sunshine Coast isn't one market. It's a long stretch of towns and suburbs, from Caloundra up to Noosa and back into the hinterland, and Google treats it that way.

01

The coast is spread out

A business in Caloundra won't easily show up in the map pack for someone searching in Noosa, and that's mostly down to distance. I'll be upfront about which areas you can realistically compete in, and build your visibility out from there.

02

Locals and visitors search differently

Someone on holiday in Mooloolaba searching for a cafe or a tour wants something different to a Buderim homeowner looking for an electrician. Your keywords and content need to match the customers you actually want.

03

Real local detail, not page farms

Someone searching for a plumber in Kawana wants a business that services Kawana. That has to show up in your profile, your content and your listings. I won't spin up dozens of near-identical suburb landing pages to chase a ranking. Duplicate content at scale can drag down your whole site.

04

Big agencies, junior account managers

The coast has plenty of SEO agencies and digital marketing firms, and many put an account manager between you and the work. With me, you deal directly with the person running your SEO strategy.

How Google decides who shows up in the map pack

Google weighs three things when it decides which businesses appear in the map pack.

01

Relevance

How well your Google Business Profile, categories and website content match what someone searched for.

02

Distance

How close your address or service area is to the person searching. This one is mostly outside your control, and I won't pretend otherwise.

03

Prominence

Your reviews, citations, backlinks and online reputation.

Each of these ties back to something I work on every month. Relevance means fixing categories and rewriting thin service pages. Prominence means a steady review habit, quality backlinks and clean citations. Distance means focusing on the suburbs where you can win, rather than promising the whole coast.

What's included in my SEO services

My SEO services cover six things working together. None of them do much on their own, which is why a one-off profile tweak rarely makes a difference. I start with whatever is holding your rankings back the most.

How I'd approach your SEO campaign

  1. 1

    Free audit

I review your website, Google Business Profile, citations and the competitors showing up ahead of you.

  2. 2

A quote based on the audit

I don't publish set packages. Your industry, the competition and the state of your website all change the scope. The audit shapes the SEO strategy, then I quote. No lock-in contracts.

  3. 3

    Priorities

We start with the changes most likely to bring in more calls and leads. Usually that's your Google profile, your main service pages and any listings with the wrong details.

  4. 4

    Monthly implementation

I handle the audits, strategy, briefs and reports. My freelance copywriter and developer help with implementation when needed, and I check their work before it goes live.

  5. 5

    Live reporting

A live dashboard to check rankings, organic traffic and growth any time, rather than waiting for a monthly PDF. I keep a cap of 30 clients so every campaign gets proper attention.

Where most owners go wrong

Most of this isn't complicated. It's just unglamorous, and it gets skipped because nobody is watching closely.

  • A Google Business Profile that was claimed once and never touched again
  • Business name, address and phone details that don't match across directories
  • One generic page trying to rank for every town from Caloundra to Noosa
  • Reviews treated as an afterthought instead of an ongoing habit
  • No real way to see whether SEO brings in organic traffic or enquiries, just a monthly PDF weeks after the fact

How long does SEO take on the Sunshine Coast?

Most clients see early movement in Google Maps within a couple of months, with stronger results over three to six months. Competitive services take longer. It depends on your competition, your website's starting point and how quickly changes get made. Nobody controls Google's algorithm, so I won't promise you a date.

Typical timeline

  1. Stage 1

    Months 1 to 3

Profile, citations and early Maps visibility

  2. Stage 2

    Months 3 to 6

Content and links start moving rankings

  3. Stage 3

    Months 6 to 12+

    Competitive terms and suburbs

Typical timeline, varies by market

Not a fit if

  • You want guaranteed first page rankings in two weeks
  • You want dozens of thin suburb pages
  • You only want paid ads and no organic marketing
  • You want a large agency with account managers

SEO Sunshine Coast FAQs

Most of my clients are small businesses, and I don't publish set packages. It depends on your industry, the competition and the state of your website. I run a free audit first, then quote based on what your business needs. No lock-in contracts. For a broader guide, read how much SEO costs in Australia.

You'll usually see early movement in Google Maps within a couple of months, with stronger results over three to six months. Competitive services need longer.

No. I'm based on the Gold Coast, and SEO work happens on your website, your Google Business Profile and across the web, not in a local office. What matters is understanding your area and your competitors, which is what the audit covers.

Often, yes, but distance plays a big part in the map pack. If you have a real presence or take regular jobs in both areas, we can build that into your profile, content and citations. If not, I'll tell you where your best chances are.

No, and be wary of anyone who does. What I can promise is the work gets done properly every month and you can see the results on your live dashboard.

Regular SEO focuses on ranking your website in the organic search results for searches anywhere. Local SEO is about customers near you, through your Google Business Profile, citations, reviews and "near me" searches. If most of your customers are local, that's usually where the fastest wins are.

It helps. A consistent online presence across your Google Business Profile, website and citations helps AI tools describe your business accurately. Morgan Insurance Brokers' ChatGPT enquiry actions grew from 73 to 187 year on year.

No. You stay because the work is delivering, not because you're locked in.
